Finisher's Medals Display

Great article in the Runner's World of cool finisher's medals: http://www.runnersworld.com/photos/the-coolest-race-medals?cid=social_20140722_28209766

I value each of my finisher's medals. Bud enjoys wearing them as well. Here's the photo I submitted to the Runner's World of my 20 medals as a runner.

Week in Review; Photos with Rob & Doug Ford

Today = 21.1 K along Bloor and the Danforth - stayed away from the waterfront due to the Honda Indy Toronto race. 20C but a tad humid; cloudy at times but the sun came out. Not the easiest run.

July 17 = 5 K

July 15 = 2.5 K

Forecasted weather going close to 30C with humidity. Oh boy...

Bud took me to the Toronto Chinese Festival. We saw Rob and Doug Ford - huge crowd of people wanting to take photos. Doug was right - Rob is like a rock star.

Signed up for Toronto Marathon; Toronto Waterfront Marathon medal design revealed

Forgot to mention on my blog - I signed up for the Toronto Marathon a few days ago. The price has gone up to $90 (register before July 31) and the bus ride from downtown Toronto to the start line has gone up to $12. Regardless, I signed up as this will be a chance from the Mississauga Marathon which I've run the last 2 years. Looking forward to the huge finisher's medal. The navy blue tech shirt this year was great - too bad I didn't get one.

Just read on Twitter that the Toronto Waterfront Marathon finisher's medal has been revealed - Honest Ed's. That's a good design as long as the route passes by the landmark. Can't believe the marathon is in year #25.

Week in Review

Three runs this week:

* July 8 = 5.4 K
* July 10 - 5.1 K
* Today = 20 K

Today's run was marked by heavy rain for about 30 minutes. There was the Toronto Triathalon Festival in progress so I was in company. Haven't run in rain in several years! Wasn't that bad as the humidity was gone.

When the rain let up, the sun and humidity returned :-|

Passed by the Pawsway Pet Discovery Centre on the Queen's Quay:

Here's a photo of my little man. He has had a tough several days. I took him to the vet on Friday and he was diagnosed with "Hot Spot". The vet said it was caused by his thick fur getting wet and then got infected. He kept scratching the area and made it worse - as it was itchy and thus painful. Bud wasn't eating. Bud had to be very drowsy in order for the vet to shave the fur and deal with the infected area. Bud did his best to fight it. He's now recovering - although having difficulty sleeping at night. Took Bud back to the vet on Saturday as there was a pool of light red or pink fluid on the floor. Vet gave him an injection to stop the inching. Bud returns to the vet tomorrow morning for a check up.

LSD - Toronto Islands = 23 K

Took the ferry to the Toronto Islands today. Got in a total of 23.5 K for my long slow run. Happy the wait for the ferry to and from the islands was quick. Hot and humid today - so run wasn't easy. YTD = 794 K

Calfs and legs are tight - massage in less than 2 weeks to loosen the muscles.

Looking forward to running in the fall:
